$100M Prize For Carbon Removal

20 Finalists have been named in the XPRIZE Carbon Removal, a $100 million global competition to catalyze the development of new high-quality carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies. The Finalists are currently building and operating CDR projects in 11 countries around the world that aim to remove 1,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide this year, and sequester it permanently. The Finalists were selected in 2024 as the world’s leading CDR companies by a panel of expert Judges, and are undergoing rigorous monitoring and evaluation this year by XPRIZE.

The Global 1000 CDR Challenge is a partnered effort between XPRIZE and ClimeFi to mobilize the world’s 1000 largest companies to buy 1000 tonnes of carbon dioxide removal in 2025. In order to meet global net zero targets, we must rapidly scale-up the nascent carbon removal industry and activate the next wave of buyers. The XPRIZE Finalists are already selling credits to leading companies including: Microsoft, Stripe, Shopify, Alphabet, Meta, JPMorgan Chase, Mitsubishi, BCG, H&M, McKinsey, and more.
